Welcome to Bread a la Mer in coastal West Sussex. We bake a range of handcrafted Artisan bread using traditional methods.
Bread a la mer origins
We began our journey in Katy’s parents kitchen in West Wittering, West Sussex, providing handmade bread to a few local outlets, it soon became apparent that there was a high demand for our product in this area and the word spread. We now supply select farm shops in the local area as well as seaside cafes, restaurants and deli’s.
Baked to perfection
We work closely with our local miller at Lurgashall Water Mill who provide our wholemeal flour and other select producers, baking without preservatives or enhancers. We bake and deliver daily so the bread is always fresh.
For our restaurant customers we offer a bespoke service providing the highest quality bread to fit their needs.
Why ‘Bread a la Mer’?
It all began in a domestic kitchen which faced South with wonderful views over the sea, thus ‘Bread’ by the sea or ‘Bread’ of the sea. Although our commercial bakery is in the heart of Chichester it’s roots will always be in the Witterings.
